1. a) Define gravity flow water supply system. Write the importance of water supply scheme in present day community.

b) Explain different types of gravity flow water supply systems. Draw neat sketches.

2. a) Define safe yield. Explain the types of water demand.

b) Calculate the total daily water demand of a VDC for a scheme of design period of 20 years and population growth is 2.2% per year with the help of the following present data.

i) Population = 9050

ii) Cows & Oxen = 680

iii) Horse = 40

iv) Chicken = 2500

v) School 

vi) Offices 1(with 450 day scholar students) 

vii) Health Post

3. a) Describe/different methods of discharge measurement at the source of gravity flow water supply systems.

b) Why population survey is needed? Write what you mean by design period.

4. a) What are intakes? What are the important considerations which govern the site selection of an intake?

b) Explain about types of head losses in a pipe.

5. a) Why a tapstand is necessary in a water supply scheme? Describe its construction with a neat sketch. 

b) Discuss the structural consideration and material requirements of reservoir tank.
