Attempt any FIVE questions.
1. a. State and explain KCL and KVL law. (8)
b. Two bulbs of 250 W, 230 V each, are connected in parallel across a 200 V supply. Calculate the total power draw form the supply. [8]
2. a. Differentiate between direct and alternating current. Explain briefly the variation of resistance with temperature. [3+5]
b. A coil has resistance of 1802 when its mean temperature is 20°C and of 2002 when its mean temperature is 50°C. Find its mean temperature rise when its resistance is 2102 and the surrounding temperature is 15°C. (8)
3. a. Define relative permittivity? Derive the relation of energy stored by capacitor. [2+6]
b. What do you mean, by hysteresis curve? Explain with figure. [3+5]
4. a. Two resistances of 20 ohm and 30 ohm respectively are connected in parallel. These two parallel resistances are further connected in series with a resistance of 152. If the current through the 15 ohm resistance is 3A. Find
i) the current through 20 ohm the current through the 20 ohm and 30 ohm resistances respectively
(ii) the voltage across the whole circuit
(iii) the total power consumer (8)
4. b. What is magnetic circuit? Write down the analogy of magnetic circuit with electric. (2+6)
5. a. State and explain the Lenz's law. (8)
b. Describe the construction and operation of lead acid cell with figure. (8)
6. Write short notes on: (Any FOUR)
a. Inductances in Series and Parallel
b. Ferromagnetic and Paramagnetic Material
c. Electric Charge and Current
d. Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction
